KYD® Manifesto
Every system depends on devices.
They observe.
They measure.
They report.
They act.
Yet for decades, we have trusted devices by assumption.
We verify people.
We audit companies.
We insure assets.
But devices — the source of modern data — are rarely verified beyond first connection.
This gap is no longer theoretical.
Trust Is Not Static
Section titled “Trust Is Not Static”Devices change.
They update.
They drift.
They are replaced, reconfigured, repurposed.
Trust cannot be established once and assumed forever.
It must be earned continuously.
Data Cannot Be More Trustworthy Than Its Source
Section titled “Data Cannot Be More Trustworthy Than Its Source”Every dataset begins with a device.
If the device cannot be trusted:
- the data cannot be trusted
- the system cannot be trusted
- the outcome cannot be trusted
This is not a security problem.
It is a foundational integrity problem.
Why KYD® Exists
Section titled “Why KYD® Exists”KYD® exists to define device trust clearly and consistently.
Not as a product.
Not as a promise.
But as a standard.
It defines:
- what device trust means
- how it is evaluated
- how it changes over time
- how proof is retained
So trust becomes inspectable, not assumed.
A Standard, Not a Vendor
Section titled “A Standard, Not a Vendor”Standards do not persuade.
They describe reality.
They are referenced, not sold.
Adopted, not marketed.
KYD® is designed to function as infrastructure language —
a shared way to reason about device trust across systems and industries.
Proof, Not Assumptions
Section titled “Proof, Not Assumptions”The future depends on systems we can explain.
KYD® exists so that device trust is:
- observable
- measurable
- explainable
- accountable
Trust should not be a leap of faith.
It should be evidence.
The Opportunity
Section titled “The Opportunity”Standards create categories.
Categories create markets.
Once device trust is standardized, KYD® becomes infrastructure language:
- Referenced in procurement requirements
- Used in insurance underwriting and assurance
- Embedded into platforms and regulated systems
- Assumed across critical infrastructure
The opportunity is not a single product market —
it is the creation of a foundational trust layer.
The Path Forward
Section titled “The Path Forward”KYD® does not wait for consensus.
It defines.
It proves.
It scales.
The standard creates the surface area.
Implementations capture value.
Trust becomes measurable.
And measurable trust becomes mandatory.
KYD® — The Device Trust Standard
Proof, not assumptions.
